Ten tips on how to be a beautiful bride

There’s a saying that a summer body is made in winter. Well the same can certainly be said of a glowing bride. So, despite the fact that winter has just set in and you might feel like cuddling up under a blanket with that good book, cup of hot chocolate or a glass of wine, it’s time to start your pre-wedding preparations, today!

Whether you are preparing for a Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter wedding, the time leading up to your happy day can be very draining and tiring on the body. Here are some do’s and don’ts to help you get that radiant look, starting from six months before you say “I Do.”

1. Get professional advice
DO: 6 – 12 months before the big day, book an appointment with a qualified skincare therapist for a proper skin consultation, where the right product will be suggested for your skincare needs. The right homecare routine along with regular visits to the spa for facials with your Therapist will make all the difference – for the wedding as well as beyond.

Silver Forest stocks QMSmedicosmetics, Environ, Optiphi, SIX sensational skincare and a host of products for a range of treatments. Starting a new regime can be very intimidating, but by keeping it simple, you will be fine.

DON’T: Buy over the counter products if you are serious about your skincare regime. Try not to start a new skincare regime one to three months before your wedding, as it takes the skin six months to get used to a skincare regime.
Do not start a routine and then stop as soon as your skin reaches optimal balance, keep going.

2. Hydrate!
Hydration is paramount. The skin, the body’s biggest organ, is the last of the vital organs to benefit from daily water consumption so try to drink 1.5 – 2 litres of water per day. But before all that liquid goodness can have an effect, it’s important to DETOX. THALGO Ocea Draine is perfect for this and it only takes 10 days (no starving required). Chat to a Silver Forest therapist for the right product for you.

DO: Drink up to eight glasses of water per day just to give the body that extra boost and start at least

DON’T: Over indulge in alcohol, sodas and caffeinated drinks before the wedding or the months leading up to the wedding.

3. Revealing!
Exfoliation and peels are excellent methods to reveal the glowing you. Again, we can assess your requirements and recommend the right treatment for you. We can also highly recommend the thermal suite, which is HOT all year round and with the cold bucket shower, you are sure to cool down in the summer after a hot Jacuzzi. The Raul Chamber is another great way to scrub up, with self-applied mineral enriched mud as you steam away tension and impurities.

4. Face-up to your future
Offering a variety of treatments from world class products – QMS Medicosmetics, Six Sensational Skin, Environ and more for specialist facials for any skin types. Our beauty aestheticians can help slough off dry skin, remove and control blackheads and also advise on more problematic skin conditions.

Do: Choose a product and regimen that’s right for your skin type and stick with it and start your process six-months before. For extra glamour on the day, ask Silver Forest how to make your eyes sparkle and for help with the kiss that will seal the deal with a range of treatments to assist.
Don’t: Have a facial the day before or even within ten days before tying the knot.

5. Brow Time
It is all about the perfect brow. Whether you want a completely new shape after growing them out for months or just a clean-up before the big day, Silver Forest uses
Ceriphil wax, a French brand one of the best on the market, to help you shape the complete frame for your face. We also offer threading (which is an ancient Eastern method of hair removal using cotton string) – recommended for more sensitive skins. We advocate that you begin your re-shaping at least 6 – 9 months prior to your wedding.

6. Hands and Feet
Regular manicures and pedicures are essential to ensure your hands and feet are in tiptop condition for the big day. For drier skin we suggest a medical approach with ELIM and MEDI-HEEL treatments as part of your pre-bridal regime, before progressing to the more pampering manicures and pedicures we have on offer, such as a SPALICIOUS or OPI pamper. Manis and Pedis are also the perfect way to bring the bridal party together – bridesmaids, mum and future mum-in-law. Start these treatments six months in the lead-up.

DO: keep your hands and feet well groomed at all times and wear shoes that are comfortable
DON’T: bite your nails – we know it can be stressful, but try not to let it get to you – try regular massages or our Thermal suite to relax.

7. Get in touch – regular massages are essential
There are a variety of different massage techniques available – from deep tissue to hot stone and rejuvenating body journeys – there is a massage to suit your mood or your needs. Massage has been shown to have a beneficial effect for more than relieving stress, muscle tension and promoting relaxation, as with regular therapeutic sessions, overall wellbeing is optimised – perfect for pre-wedding anxiety.

Try a BELLABACI massage, which is the modern version of cupping, as this massage releases the toxins in the muscles and helps relieve pain and stiff muscles.

DO: go to a professional when having a massage as you do not want to end up with a crooked spine on your wedding day.

DON’T: have a deep tissue or cupping massage less than a week before the wedding.

8. Tone and Firm
Not getting that toned look you want for your wedding day by just hitting the gym?
If you are struggling with cellulite, stretch marks or uneven skin tone, Silver Forest has an extensive range of professional cosmoceuticals products and treatments to assist in controlling or even eradicating problem areas. Products such as MIO, OPTIPHI, SPALICIOUS, ENVIRON and many more are on offer.

DO: Be honest with yourself and your therapist about your current habits so they can develop the best regime and recommend the correct products, for you.

DON’T: Expect overnight miracles. There is no such thing as a quick fix. It takes time and your commitment to make a lasting difference.

9. Back of Arm Bumps, Ingrown Hairs
There is nothing worse than those little bumps on the back of your arms or on your thighs. AHA exfoliator from ELIM, Skin tight from MIO are two great products to assist these issues.

Ingrown hairs? No problem, by combining Dermalac lotion with ACE body oil from ENVIRON ingrown hairs will be a thing of the past.

10. Healthy Hair and Nails
Struggling to grow your hair and nails? By using THALGO OCEA PERFECT or taking an ENVIRON hair and nails supplement, you will have longer and stronger hair and nails in just months. Please note that you should not start this regime only weeks before the big day as these are not instant solutions.
We also use IBX to overcome brittle nails and have had excellent results with only six treatments.

DO: Book this treatment every time you go for your manicure or pedicure as this can be applied underneath all gels and polishes.

DON’T: Skip a treatment as you will then not see the results you are hoping for.

Rounding out your countdown and to improve your results – for the long-term – don’t forget to look at your diet and exercise programme. Remember, your wedding is a day, but marriage is for a lifetime.
